2017 March 12 - Hired Guns Hi Res - Jennifer Carroll-53.jpg

Chef Kevin Gillespie’s restaurant, Gunshow, offers a bold, interactive take on the traditional dining experience. Dishes are presented on rolling carts and trays to diners at their tables where they can then choose what to order. Pricing is a la carte.

Along with an innovative dining experience, the restaurant’s design is also unique. With few walls and a highly visible kitchen, Gillespie and the talented team at ai3, Inc. have created a sense of transparency throughout Gunshow.

The restaurant’s name is a tribute to his family. Growing up, Gillespie’s father worked seven days a week to provide a better life for his family. On the rare Sunday afternoon he had off, father and son would go to a gun show.

Gunshow is located in the Glenwood Park neighborhood of Atlanta.

FAQ

(Click the question)

+ WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME GUNSHOW?

The restaurant’s name is a tribute to owner Kevin Gillespie’s family. Growing up, his father worked seven days a week to provide a better life for his family. On the rare Sunday afternoon he had off, father and son would go to a gun show.

+ DOES GUNSHOW HAVE MENUS?

Yes, each guest receives a menu at their table that includes a list of dishes and pricing. Each time you order an item, a chef or server will mark your menu so you can keep track of what you’ve tried so far.

+ WHERE CAN I FIND THE MENU ONLINE?

The menu is updated weekly, but may not be fully accurate as some menu items are subject to change on a nightly basis. You can follow us on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter for the most current menu updates and photos.

+ WILL I HAVE A SERVER?

Yes, every table has an assigned server that can answer any menu questions, fetch and refill drinks, charm snakes, etc.

+ HOW DO I ORDER?

Simply put: just let the food come to you. The person who prepared the dish will walk over to your table and describe his/her dish. Feel free to ask questions! Just nod or say yes if you’re in, and how many orders you want. Not interested? That’s ok, just pass and wait for the next dish to come along.

+ I WAITED ALL NIGHT AND NEVER GOT TO TRY (INSERT ITEM YOU LUSTED AFTER ). WHY IS LIFE SO CRUEL?

We’re sorry to hear that a dish didn’t make its way to you. We do our best to get around to every guest, but sometimes we run out of popular dishes. If you see something you have to have, you can also let your server know so he/she can try to assist.

+ WHY IS IT SO BRIGHT/LOUD INSIDE?

Gunshow was designed to have zero separation between guests and the kitchen. We felt like this would increase the quality of experience and give people a real taste of what is going on. Actually, the entire restaurant is a kitchen so whatever goes on in a kitchen (bright lights, no sound deafening panels) goes on in the entire restaurant.

+ HOW DO I MAKE A RESERVATION?

Reservations are available through Yelp Reservations for parties of 7 or less. We only take reservations for 1 month in advance of the date the reservation is made. We welcome walk-ins on a first come-first serve basis though we can not guarantee availability.

+ WHY IS A RESERVATION DIFFERENT FOR A PARTY OF 8 to 12 GUESTS?

Due to the size of the restaurant and the limited number of tables in house we do not offer reservations for parties of 8 to 12 guests online. Reservations for groups of this size can be made over the phone or via email. We offer two seating times each night, Tuesday through Saturday, at 6pm and 8:30pm. In order to ensure an enjoyable experience for our guests we customize a family style 10 course meal for the table at $80 per person, beverages and gratuity not included. Feel free to contact us for more information.

+ WHERE DO I PARK?

Parking is available in the Glenwood parking lot behind Gunshow and on the street.

GUNSHOW ATLANTA SEEKS LINE COOK

Compensation: Discussed in Interview

Employment Type: Full-Time

Gunshow, Atlanta's most unique restaurant, is seeking talented culinarians. Come join the team of Kevin Gillespie's talented cooks as they prepare and offer their own creations to guests "dim sum style" as they are prepared.

No ticket printers. No stress on the food -- just delicious creations that are artfully and carefully crafted and served by the individual that prepared it.

Gunshow's mantra is that anything can be on our menu at any given time. We do not place restrictions on specific themes or genres of cuisine. Instead, we encourage creativity from EVERYONE while utilizing local farms and goods.

Every cook prepares two dishes each night, rotating them and offering them to guests throughout the night. Each week, executive chef Chris McCord leads menu development sessions where the team can present ideas, concepts or whole dishes for review and discussion by the group as a whole before being approved to go on the following week's menu. This means EVERY COOK has a voice as to what he/she is cooking!

We are open for service Tuesday-Saturday from 6-9:30 p.m. (last seating). Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Must be a self-starter who is able to produce and execute on their own power.
  • Minimum 2 years of fine dining/farm-to-table experience.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Must be able to speak and interact with the guests comfortably.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail.
  • Must get along well with others.
  • Must have passion for their craft. We are looking for "career culinarians" -- people that want to be in this industry for their entire lives and people who love to cook, eat and immerse themselves with the industry (i.e. read cookbooks, follow industry news, watch media online, etc.)

PLEASE REPLY TO THIS POST WITH A RESUME IF YOU ARE QUALIFIED FOR THE POSITION

More about Gunshow: Chef Kevin Gillespie's popular Atlanta restaurant, Gunshow, offers a bold, new take on the traditional dining experience. Inspired by Brazilian churrascaria-style dining and Chinese dim sum, Gillespie combined the two for a decidedly fun and delicious result. Helmed by executive chef Chris McCord, chefs present dishes to diners at their tables where they can choose what to accept or pass, while cocktails are made tableside on a rolling cart. Gunshow, open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday, earned a spot on GQ's list of "12 Most Outstanding Restaurants" in 2014 and was included in Eater's "The National 38" list of places to eat in America in 2015 and 2016.
